Neighborhood Watch Programs

8 July, 2009

If you want to keep your home and family safe, nothing beats installing a monitored alarm system. That being said, there is still more that can be done to protect not only your home, but your entire community! By joining a neighborhood watch program, you can work with fellow citizens to improve the security of your community. If you collaborate with neighbors to prevent crime and vandalism, you are taking control over potential threats that loom in your area.

What is a neighborhood watch program? It is not a vigilante organization! The term ‘neighborhood watch’ does not mean that you should take the law into your own hands. When you suspect criminal activity, please contact the local authorities. Members of a neighborhood watch program are not meant to act as police officers, but instead serve as eyes and ears for law enforcement officials. Neighborhood watch programs are a tried and true tool in crime prevention. If you haven’t done so already, build a relationship with your neighbors and improve the safety of your community.
