The 2009 Oregon Governor’s Occupational Safety and Health (GOSH) Conference will be held March 9-12 in Portland, and is the largest conference of its kind in all of the Northwest states. Registration is now open for the safety conference, and there will be over 30 all day workshops, along with many single-topic classes, 115 to be exact. This conference aims to educate managers and workers alike on safety and health issues, especially in the workplace.
A moderated panel discussion is a much anticipated event, and will include many business leaders in the security industry, namely the senior management from GE Security, Boeing Portland, Intel, and Skanska USA. These leaders in the industry will discuss how safety and health is important in their organizations, and what is expected of them in terms of leadership and management. GE Security is excited to be part of this large conference.
The coordinator of the GOSH Conference, Sharell Lien, commented, “This is a rare opportunity to hear from top business leaders on how they are managing safety and health in these uncertain economic times.” She added, “I expect the conversation to be candid and insightful.”
There will be general topics such as safety committees, training, accident investigation and motor vehicle safety, as well as conference specialties. These specialties include health care, emergency preparedness and response, workplace wellness, construction, and ergonomics.
The Oregon OSHA (Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division), which is a division of the Department of Consumer & Business Services, has partnered with the Columbia-Willamette Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers in order to sponsor the conference.
